Shanghai Acrobatic Troupe
Circus acrobatics has been around in China for 2000 years and today's troupes are reputed to be the best in the world. Surprisingly, this art form benefited from the Cultural Revolution. It became fashionable to hold theme evening parties in the acrobatic circles in 1996, which suited Shanghai Acrobatic Troupe well in their intention of changing the traditional stage style. It presented a situational acrobatic program named Spring and Autumn of Acrobatics, demonstrating the essence of acrobatics, creating an entirely new atmosphere and bringing a freshness to the acrobatics stage of Shanghai.

1n 1999, Shanghai Circus World was erected on Gonghexin Road in north Shanghai after four years of construction. On Sept. 11, 1999, Oriental Stories made its premiere for the 22nd Universal Postal Union Conference as the first show ever given at the circus world. Guests from around the world enjoyed the artistic glamour of oriental acrobatics and appreciated the elegant bearing of the no.1 circus world in the orient. After moving into the circus world, Shanghai Acrobatic Troupe made full use of the advantages of the circus. It had rapidly set the strategic policy of restoring the high altitude and large acrobatic programs, which had given initial results after one year's hard work. Walking in the Clouds, Swirling Flyer, Speed, Great Wheel and Flying Trapeze jointly presented by students of the circus school all recovered their past grandeur in the circus world. Flying Trapeze was entered for the Fifth National Acrobatics Contest and won the gold medal.
Huangpu River and Bund City lights tour

The word Bund is of Anglo-Indian origin meaning "embankment on the waterfront," and you'll experience the definition literally with a feeling of space and openness that you won't find anywhere else in Shanghai. The tour starts with an evening cruise on the Huangpu River, which divides the Bund into two sections, Pu Dong and Pu Xi, which mean "east of river" and "west of river."
