Getting There andaway
By Air Hangzhou is served by the Xiaoshan International Airport, which is located some 30 kilometers (about 19 miles) from the downtown. The airport has more than 35 regular domestic flights. There are daily flights to major cities in China, as well as international flights to Korean and Thailand and 4 joint flights. The airport also offers flights to and from Hongkong and Singapore. Airport shuttle buses are available to pick up passengers from the city center to the airport for 20 Yuan. Shuttle buses leave for airport from the Marco Polo Hotel. Taxi drivers ask around 120 Yuan for the trip.

By Train Hangzhou is a large transport terminal for eastern China. There stand two arterial railways: Shanghai-Hangzhou and Zhejiang-Jiangzxi Railways with subsidiary railways of Xiaoshan-Ningbo Railway, Jinhua-Qiandaohu Railway and Hangzhou-Changxing Railway. There are many trains having their starting point in Hangzhou. Daily services from Hangzhou to China’s major cities are conveniently available. Some trains passing through stop at the Hangzhou Eastern Train Station.

By Long Distance Bus Hangzhou is the hub for transportation in Zhejiang Province. The city has four long distance bus stations, East, West, South and North bus stations. Buses to the neighboring areas including Nanjing and Shanghai are frequent.

By Boat Qiantang River and Grand Canal are the major waterways of Hangzhou and has more than 20 shipping lanes to Suzhou and Wuxi etc. Boat trips from Hangzhou to Suzhou or Wuxi along the Grand Canal is available. Boat for Suzhou leaves at 5:30am, and one leaves for Wuxi at 6 pm. Both trips take 13 hours. Normally, you can take the ship in the evening and reach the destination next morning. It is a perfect way for you to appreciate the local flavor in the area south of the Yangtze River and the rich culture of Grand Canal. This service is usually only available in summer or tourists peak seasons.
Getting Around
Public Bus Hangzhou has a good public transportation. Public buses go virtually everywhere in the city proper. The bus number is important. Bus numbers prefixed by "K" are air-conditioned. Bus numbers prefixed by "3" and "5" are running to the neighboring rural areas and special lines, respectively.
Fares are very cheap, and you need 1 Yuan for bus numbering one or two digitals (eg. No 8, No 13) and trolleys preceded by "1" (eg.No.132), 2 Yuan for a air-conditioned buses. Prices for special bus lines and buses running to the neighboring rural areas vary according to the bus condition and distance (the starting price for a general bus is 1 Yuan and 2 Yuan for an air-conditioned one). All the tourism buses are air-conditioned and cost 2 Yuan.

Bicycle Bicycle is one of the best ways to explore Hangzhou, particularly at the West Lake area. Cycling for sightseeing offers you plenty of freedom, and rules out parking problems in any scenic spot. With a map in hand, you can go wherever you want. Bicycles are available for rent in hotels along the lake. In scenic areas like Su Causeway, Hangzhou Amusement Park, Hangzhou Future World Land Park, there are bicycles for rent within the scenic place.
Taxi
You can also take a taxi to loop around the city. Taxis are plentiful and it's usually very easy to stop one in street. It is pricing according to fee register. Minimum fare of taxi is 10 Yuan for 4 kilometers. Over 4 kilometers to 8 kilometers, every kilometer is 2 Yuan. Over 8 kilometers is 2.4 Yuan.
