Getting There
By Air
Datong Airport is located about 50km outside the city, but it mainly deals with cargo business and only serves a very limited number of destinations. It is accessible only by taxi (approx. RMB100). Most people who travel by air come and leave the area from Taiyuan Airport.

By Train
Datong Train Station is located at the intersection of Xinjian N. Road and Zhanqian Street, in the northern part of the city. As the traffic center in Shanxi province, Datong's got comparatively complete railway network. It can reach most of the major cities in China.

Getting Around
By Taxi
All of the taxis in Datong are metered. Price varies according to size of the taxi. Generally most taxis charge a base fee of RMB5 during the day and RMB6 at night, with RMB1.2 for each additional 1km.

By Bicycle
Most of local hotel have bicycles for rental. Generally it costs RMB10-30 a day with RMB200-300 for deposit.
