By Air
There are more than 150 domestic and international lines connecting Wuhan with over sixty metropolises inside China and abroad. Currently Wuhan has five direct international lines to Osaka, Fukuoka, Seoul, Bangkok, and Singapore. Another line sponsored by China Southern Airlines is from Wuhan to Guangzhou and on to Paris.
 
A 20-kilometer speedway drive from the Tian He International Airport (WUH) to the city center takes only twenty minutes. Airport shuttle buses leave for the city following flight arrivals. From the airport to Hankou, the bus will charge 15 yuan per person, 20 for Hanyang, and 30 for Wuchang; a taxi drive to the city area is about 80-120 yuan.
 
Wuhan Tianhe Airport is 3,400 meters long and 60 meters wide, able to facilitate the arrival and departure of a Boeing 747-400. Between the city and airport runs an expressway which is 17.8km long. It takes 20 minutes to cover the distance by car. Every day, there is a direct scheduled flight between Wuhan and Hongkong. There is also the opening of the direct airline between Wuhan and Bangkok, Fukuoka of Japan and Marco. With the valid credentials concerned, air tickets can be booked or bought at any ticket office or designated ticket agency set up by the airline. Ticket offices are set up in star-class hotels as well.
 
Within China, air tickets can be booked in advance in hotels, guesthouses, and ticket agencies in the city. Tickets are also available after working hours at the counter in the departure hall in the airport Waiting Building.

Airport Shuttles:
Luxury buses leave for the airport from Jin Jia Dun Distance Bus Passenger Station (opposite Hankou Railway Station) every hour. Airport buses and taxis are also available outside the Arrival Hall in the Waiting Building at the airport.

Buses leave from Fu Jia Po Distance Bus Passenger Station in Wuchang every hour from 7:40 to 19:10. Buses leave from the Waiting Building in Hankou from early 6:30 to 19:50 every hour and buses leave from Hankou Civil Aviation Resident Area between 6:40 to 20:00 every hour.
 
By Train
As a transportation hub in central China, Wuhan has three main railway lines:
 
1. Jingguang Railway (Beijing - Guangzhou),
2. Handan Railway (Hankou - Danjiangkou - Chongqing and Chengdu
3. Wujiu Railway (Wuchang - Jiujiang - Shanghai)
 
Train travel options are available between more than twenty major cities in China and Wuhan, including Beiing, Zhengzhou, Tianjin, Luoyang, Chongqing, Xi'an, Guangzhou and Nanchang. Trains from Wuhan to other cities in Hubei Province are available daily.
 
The Beijing-Guangzhou railway runs through the city proper from the south to the north, and the Shanghai-Chongqing railway through the city proper from the east to the west. These two major national railways intersect with the Wuhan-jiujiang, Wuhan-danjiangkou, Wuhan-daye Beijing-jiulong railways at Wuhan. Therefore, Wuhan railway stations can be linked directly up to the northern china, southwestern China, central and southern China, and eastern China, southwestern China, central and southern china, and eastern China railways networks.
 
At Hankou and wuchang railway stations, 77 passenger trains depart from there per day. Those trains and the other 120 passenger trains passing through the two railway stations may directly connect 21 large-sized or medium-sized cities. The railway lines under the administration of the Wuhan Railway Subbureau reaches 14 and the total extension lines reaching 2705km.The annual freight volume hits 50.04 million tons and the annual passenger-traffic volume reaches 19.74 million passengers.
 
The Yangtze Rive divides Wuhan into two parts, Hankou and Hanyang on the western bank, and Wuchang on the eastern, called Three Towns of Wuhan. There are two passenger stations in the city, one in the town of Wuchang and the other in Hankou. The passenger station in Wuchang, Wuchang Railway Station" (WRS), is located south of the town center, while the biggest station in Hankou, "Hankou Railway Station" (HRS) is in the west.
 
Bus No. 10 and Special Line 561 run between the two stations. Make sure you go to the right station and confirm this at the ticket counter before you book tickets.

Boat
As one of the ports of call on the Yangtze River, Wuhan welcomes cruise travelers to this ancient city; ferries are available to Chongqing, Shanghai, and other riverside cities. Dozens of cruise services in Wuhan offer deluxe cruises to the famous Three Gorges. . The Passenger Port is located on the western bank of the Yangtze River, at the right end of the famous Jianghan Road.

By Long Distance Bus
With the rapid development of road construction, China's highway mileage is second in the world with a total of over 30,000 kilometers (1864 miles). Overland buses are the most important means of transport in many parts of China. By 1999, over 1.35 million kilometers (840,000 miles) highway had been put into use. Compared to air and trains, buses are the cheapest means of transport.

Public City Bus
Public Bus
Public bus lines cover all the areas in Hankou, Wuchang and Hanyang at the very low price of 1 yuan or 1.2 yuan. Exact change is required.
 
Tourist Bus
For backpackers or budget travelers not booked with a group, an easy way to see the city is to take the Special Tourist buses with special routes designed to cover almost all the key city tourist spots. In all the Three Towns in Wuhan, buses with the initial number of 4 are special tourist line buses.
 
We recommend No. 401 and No. 402 buses, as they cover most of the famous attractions in Wuhan. No. 401 will take you to Yellow Crane Tower, East Lake, Heptachord Terrace (Guqin Tai) and Guiyuan Buddhist Temple (Temple of Original Purity). If you are interested in the provincial museum, take No. 402. An all-day ticket costs five yuan and the basic ticket is two-yuan.

Taxi
Taxis operate in different districts of Wuhan and you can easily take any of them to cruise the city. Fare starts from 8 yuan for the first three kilometers (1.86 miles), and 1.4 RMB for each additional one kilometer (0.62 mile). For the trip less than three kilometers, the fee varies with the specific meters as the table below:

The light metro in Wuhan operating from 6:30 a.m. to 21:30 p.m. is another choice. Starting price is 1.5 yuan for six stops; above six stops, you will be charged two yuan.
