The Former Residence of Dr Sun Yat-sen
|
Located at No.7 on Xiangshan Road, the western-style two-storied building was bought with funds sponsored by a Canadian overseas Chinese for Dr. Sun Yatsen. In front of the building is a landscaped garden. On the first floor is the dining room, the sitting room and on the second floor are the bed room and the study. Dr. Sun Yatsen and his wife Madame Soong Ching Ling lived there for 6 years from 1918 to 1924. He conducted many of his important revolutionary activities here and wrote the 'Program for Founding the Republic', 'Theories of Sun Wen' and 'Industrial Program'. On August 1922, he met here with representatives from the Central Committee of the communist Party of China Lidazhao and Lin Boqu. In the same year, he consulted with Yue Fei. Dr Sun Yatsen's former residence has been listed as a key cultural relic site under state protection.
