Taihua Temple, also called Fuyan Temple, is located on the side of the highest peak of the West Hill Mountain. This is one of the most important Buddhist venues in Yunnan. The temple was built in the Yuan dynasty hundreds of years ago. Since the construction of the temple over seven Centuries ago, numerous renovations have taken place here. It contains a Great Hall, A heavenly Hall, an Elusion Tower and Grand-view Pavilion and some mansions and winding corridors. Taihua Temple has been famous the lush vegetation and blooming flower in the temple. In the late spring or early summer, a variety of flowers scatters everywhere around the temple, among which the camellia, Yulan are the most impressive and famous. The area around the temple is blanketed by bamboo forest and old trees.
In front of the temple stands a huge maidenhair tree with a diameter of over 2 meters. The tree was planted by an emperor during the Ming Dynasty. The branches of the tree spread out in all directions. The tree was said to be planted by one of the Ming Emperors. After passing through the main hall, visitors may enter the Piaomiao Tower, where they can get a bird's view of the area below.
