Cangshan Mountain
Cangshan Mountain, also called Diancang Mountain, was called Lingjiu Mountain in ancient times. Cangshan Mountain is made of 19 peaks whose altitudes are all 3,500 meters above the sea level and make up the highest peaks of the Yunling Mountain Range. Among them, The Malong Peak is the highest peak with an altitude 4,122 meters above the sea level. In and between every two peaks, a stream, which looks like white dragon in distant, rushes down and pours into the Erhai Lake. There are 18 streams in total and these streams originate from spring water or thawing snow and irrigate the farmlands around.

The most famous stream in these 18 ones is the Qingbi Stream and Tao Stream. If you take the cable car from North Gate of Dali Old Town to Cangshan Zhonghe temple, you can see these two streams rush down the mountains and spatter. That would be a spectacular sight.

Cangshan Mountain is famous for its clouds, springs, snow and marble.

Boarding on the wild Erhai Lake, you can enjoy the beautiful clouds of the Cangshan Mountain. The clouds here changes often-sometimes they are as thin as silk, sometimes they are as dark as ink. The most magical and beautiful clouds is called Yudai Cloud (means a jade belt) and Wangfu Cloud (means a woman who expects to see her husband). Yudai Cloud looks like a fairy holding a jade belt and usually appears after rain in the late summer or early autumn. The offwhite Wangfu Cloud emerges at the top of Yuju Peak in spring and winter. There is a legend about the Wangfu Clound. Long ago, the Nanzhao princess A Feng fell in love with a handsome huntsman in Cangshan Mountain. However, the king of Nanzhao Kingdom strongly opposed their relationship. Then, he asked a rabbi to killed the young man and turned the poor guy into a whelk in the sea. Hearing this sad news, the princess she died with desolation. After her death, she was turn into a cloud in the Yuju peak to search her lover who lied in the sea.

The springs here are also famous. Besides the eighteen streams, there are still many lakes over the altitude of over 3,800 meters. The lakefronts are densely covered with forests, which include valuable medicine materials, rare species of trees and many kinds of flowers. The flowers make the mountain look ore beautiful and attract many tourists.

The snow on the top of the Cangshan Moutain is unmelted all the year. When the sun rises, it is very dazzling and splendid, especially in March. On the moonlight night, the snow reflects off the mountain, which makes one feel like in a crystal world.

The last thing worth us to pay special attention to is a smooth marble called Cangshan Stone. Cangshan Mountain is a famous manufacture center of such a stone. The Caihua Stone distinguish itself by its unique patterns. Natural scenes of mountains, flowers, birds or people appear once it is polished. What's more, the exquisite craftwork made of marble is welcomed home and abroad.
