Ocean Park is a huge, fun entertainment park. There are more than 40 major attractions in this park. Ocean Park, lying between Aberdeen and Repulse Bay, is the largest leisure paradise in Southeast Asia, and one of the largest marine parks in the world. Covering a total area of over 200 acres, the park was built on both sides of the mountain. A cable car system links the lowland and headland sections and provides spectacular views of Hong Kong and the South China Sea. Ocean Park is an amusement park filled with roller coasters, slides, swings and other fairground rides. It's on a huge scale and a lot of fun if this is your thing. There is also a sea life center here, complete with penguins, seals, sharks and dolphins and a huge 4 level aquarium so you can watch the many types of fish from the top level through to the 'sea bed'. A cable car runs through the park connecting with the Middle Kingdom, a slightly naff collection of Chinese model villages, pagodas etc.
Firstly, you will see Marine Land - Mysterious Underwater World. Upon entering this marvelous world, you'll be mesmerized as the exciting mystery of the underwater world unfolds in front of you. Atoll Reef, the most popular attraction of Marine Land, provides a chance to view over 2,000 fish. There are 250 species of fish; including an 80 year old, 6 foot long Giant Grouper. Atoll Reef also boasts the largest number of Napoleon fish to be found in any aquarium in the world. If your children are still shivering with fear from the sight of all those sharks, take them to the In Ocean Theatre. Here, adorable marine mammal showoff their spectacular tricks. If you're fearless enough, take a walk through Asia's first underwater viewing tunnel at the Shark Aquarium. Of course, you can't miss Ocean Park Tower - a magnificent 72 meter tall tower that offers you a chance to enjoy the most spectacular view of the South China Sea.
Secondly, you will see Headland Rides - Games for Brave Man. If you're more adventurous, various thrilling rides in headland should satisfy your need for excitement. The longest roller coaster in Hong Kong takes you for a hurricane speed super ride, flipping through its famous loops, twisting and turning to give you the ride of a lifetime. In addition, the Eagle Ride, Crazy Galleon and the Flying Swing, where you're swung in chairs as high as 7 meters through a gyrating wave-like motion, all offer thrilling rides that will leave you screaming for more. Of course, if you're not a thrill-seeker, you can relax on the Ferris Wheel, a more sedate, but still fun, ride that you can enjoy with the entire family.
Thirdly, you will Lowland Gardens - Marvelous World around Us. The most important area of this area is the Hong Kong Jockey Club Giant Panda Habitat. It opened on May 18, 1999 with an area of 2000 square meters (20 acres). This habitat provides Ocean Park guests a rare opportunity to visit a pair of giant pandas. An An and Jia Jia, were a gift bestowed by the Central Government to the Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong.
Opening hours:The Park's opening hours are 10am-6pm from Monday to Sunday although it often stays open later on weekends.
How to get there:
1. Take the subway and get off at Admiralty station, then take special bus 629 to get to Ocean Park.
2. Take a special bus from the Star Ferry Dock in Central, with buses leaving every 10-30 minutes.
